About Me


Sylett Strickland, The Herban Herbalista, specializes in herbs for urban environments. Sylett has over 30 years of experience using herbs for culinary and health support gathered as a fine dining chef and a two time apprentice to internationally recognized herbalist Susun Weed.

  Sylett was also a staff herbalist at Community Pharmacy in Madison, Wisconsin, one of the country’s premiere alternative and conventional co-operatively owned pharmacies. At Community Pharmacy, Sylett gained valuable insight into the public’s use of herbal remedies and worked with the medical community to research the interactions between Pharmaceuticals and Herbs.

   As a graduate with Honors from The Restaurant School in Philadelphia,  Sylett has a solid grasp of the use of culinary herbs and their use to make dining pleasurable. She blends her skills in the culinary and health realms of herbs into delightful concoctions that promote joy and health. 

Sylett had also been a soapmaker for 20 years with teaching experience at the Lone Star Soap Conference spreading the joy of hot process soapmaking and liquid soapmaking in 2012 & 2013. She combines her love of plants with her love of science in the creation of soapy delights in Newark DE
